Good to know for AU installs

  • The “10K” is rated 9999 W / 9999 VA, not 10 kW.
  • Grid code AS/NZS 4777.2. Set the correct region and grid-protection profile at commissioning. The manual states that only DRM0 of the AS/NZS 4777 demand response modes is available.
  • Earthing. The manual’s Australia/New Zealand wiring figure (section 3.11) links neutral and earth at the switchboard’s E-N link and marks the backup port’s PE wire as not required in Australia and New Zealand. Confirm the backup circuit’s earthing arrangement for the site before installing.
  • RCD. The inverter has built-in leakage-current detection. The manual’s wiring figure for “grid systems without special requirements” shows a 300 mA RCD (recommended) on the inverter’s grid side; its Australia/New Zealand figure shows RCDs on the backup-load and home-load circuits, with no rating printed. The earthing section warns that any external leakage-current device protecting the inverter (Type A) must operate at 300 mA or more, or the inverter may not work properly. Deye’s figures are examples, so confirm the RCD arrangement for the site before installing.
  • Protection and cables. The manual requires a separate external AC breaker between the inverter and the grid and between the inverter and the backup load (40 A for 3.6–6 kW, 50 A for 7–10 kW), and a separate DC over-current protector or disconnect between the battery and the inverter. The cable sizes in the table are Deye’s recommendation; size the final installation to AS/NZS 3000 and the site conditions.
  • Export limiting. The manual draws a CT clamped on the grid-side live conductor, and two meter options: a CHINT meter and a direct-connect Eastron meter. The meter Suncloud supplies is the Eastron SDM120CTM-40mA with its ESCT-TA16 CT.
  • Parallel systems: the manual says to choose the “Zero export to CT” mode (section 3.13).
  • Batteries. Deye’s 48 V-class LFP modules such as RW-M6.1-B, RW-F10.2 and SE-G5.1 Pro-B have operating voltages (see their pages) inside this inverter’s 40–60 V battery window. Size the bank so its continuous current covers the inverter’s max. charge/discharge current (90–210 A, depending on size).
  • Warranty. 10 years. Deye’s AU/NZ SUN Series limited warranty (V2.17, July 2026) covers all SUN Series AU hybrid inverters and names the 7, 7.6, 8 and 10 kW AM2-P models in its table; the AU datasheet prints 10 years for every size in the series.

Figures are from Deye’s AU datasheet for the SUN-(3.6-10)K-SG05LP1-AU-AM2-P (July 2026). Rows marked “manual” (full-load MPPT range, output fault current, overcurrent protection, cable and breaker sizes) and the DRM, earthing, RCD, meter and parallel notes are from the AU user manual V1.1.0 (July 2026, sections 3.4, 3.5, 3.7–3.13 and 9). The warranty terms are from Deye’s AU/NZ SUN Series 10-year limited warranty (V2.17, July 2026, p. 2). Confirm the exact model variant against the linked datasheet before quoting or commissioning.
