Victoria Emergency Backstop — register a Deye system

Check inverter and logger firmware, then register the system for Victoria's Emergency Backstop remote-curtailment requirement via DeyeCloud's Utility Connection Registration.

Victoria’s Emergency Backstop mechanism requires new and upgraded solar/battery systems to be remotely controllable, so the network operator can curtail export in rare grid-emergency events. For Deye systems this is done by registering the inverter through DeyeCloud’s Utility Connection Registration.

Confirm before you rely on this. The firmware baselines and registration steps below come from Deye’s own Emergency Backstop instructions. Curtailment rules, eligibility dates and required firmware change over time — always check the current requirements with the customer’s DNSP and Solar Victoria before commissioning.

1. Check the firmware

The inverter and logger must meet the minimum firmware before they can register.

Inverter firmware:

Logger firmware:

  • Deye logger — any version is compatible.
  • Yingzhen loggerLSW3_32_5406_SS_04_00.00.00.09 or higher.

2. Create the plant and bind the logger

Create (or open) the customer’s plant in DeyeCloud and add the data logger by its SN, so the inverter is online under the plant. If it isn’t connecting yet, the logger setup guide covers the common causes.

3. Register for the backstop

  1. Open the plant and tap Plant info.
  2. Tap Edit information.
  3. Tap Utility Connection Registration.
  4. Select the utility Server, then enter the device SN and the NMI.
  5. Generate the LFDI and Submit.

What these are:

  • NMI — the National Meter Identifier for the connection point, printed on the customer’s electricity bill.
  • LFDI — the device’s security identifier, generated during registration so the network can address the inverter.

Before you leave site

  • Confirm the registration shows as submitted / successful in DeyeCloud.
  • Have the NMI ready before you start — it’s the most common thing missing on site.
  • Keep a record of the submission with the job file.
