Deye warranty explained (AU / NZ)

How Deye's 10-year inverter, all-in-one and battery warranties work in AU/NZ — the 5+5 structure, what's covered, ancillary terms, and how to claim.

Updated 15 July 2026

Every Deye inverter, all-in-one system and battery Suncloud supplies in Australia and New Zealand carries a manufacturer’s warranty. This page summarises the terms in plain English — how long each product is covered, what the “5+5” split means, which components carry shorter cover, who’s eligible, and how to lodge a claim.

This manufacturer’s warranty applies in addition to — and does not limit — your rights under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL) and the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act (CGA). Nothing on this page reduces those statutory rights.

The warranty period runs from the date of purchase or installation as recorded on the warranty certificate. Exact terms can vary by product and policy revision — always check the certificate supplied with your unit.

SUN Series inverters: the 10-year 5+5 structure

Deye’s SUN Series inverters carry a 10-year warranty delivered in two phases. Under the current AU/NZ SUN Series policy this one cumulative structure applies to every covered inverter — both hybrid and string models:

  • Years 1–5 — full cover. Deye covers the parts, the labour to diagnose and repair or replace, and the freight to return or replace the unit. In practice this is a complete no-cost repair or replacement for a covered fault.
  • Years 6–10 — parts-only. Deye continues to supply covered replacement parts or units free of charge, but the following are not covered in this phase and are the owner’s responsibility:
    • The LCD display and the cooling fan components
    • Labour to remove and refit the inverter
    • Freight / transport of the unit
    • On-site attendance, call-out and travel

Both phases together make up an unbroken 10-year term — the cover never lapses, the scope simply narrows from year six.

In years 6–10, covered parts are still replaced at no charge, except the LCD and cooling fan — budget for those two components plus the installer’s labour and shipping if a claim falls in that window.

Covered SUN Series families

The 10-year 5+5 warranty applies across the SUN Series families below. Full specifications are on each product page; the exact models and power ratings covered are listed in the warranty certificate.

All-in-one storage (AI-W5.1-B-ESS)

The all-in-one AI-W5.1-B-ESS combines an integrated inverter with stacked battery modules, and the two parts are covered by separate terms:

  • Inverter portion — 10-year full warranty. The integrated inverter carries full cover for the whole 10-year term, including the LCD and cooling fan.
  • Battery portion (AI-W5.1-B module) — 10-year performance warranty. The battery is warranted for 10 years to retain at least 70% state of health (SOH) or until it reaches its rated energy throughput of 16 MWh, whichever comes first (measured at 25 °C, consistent with the datasheet). The BMS is covered for 10 years; other battery accessories for 5 years. Cover is conditional on the battery being installed, operated and maintained per the user guide.

The warranty schedule lists the AI-W5.1-B with a System Energy of 5.12 kWh — that is a single module — against a Minimum Throughput Energy of 16 MWh. So the 16 MWh figure is stated per battery module. The document does not give a combined figure for a multi-module stack, so don’t quote a multiplied stack total as a warranty entitlement — confirm the figures for that specific system against the certificate supplied with it, or ask Suncloud support.

Ancillary components

Accessories and services carry their own, shorter terms — separate from the inverter warranty:

ComponentTerm
Data logger (WiFi / LAN / 4G dongle)5 years
CT / energy meter2 years
Monitoring platform (DeyeCloud)2 years

The CT/meter and monitoring terms are materially shorter than the inverter’s, so plan for possible meter or accessory replacement cost beyond year two.

Eligibility

  • Applies to inverters with serial numbers starting 2311 and later (November 2023 production onward), per the current AU/NZ policy effective 01/11/2023.
  • Cover runs from the date of purchase / installation shown on the certificate.

General exclusions apply as set out in the certificate — typically damage from incorrect installation, unauthorised modification or repair, misuse, insufficient ventilation, or external causes (lightning, overvoltage, storm, fire, and similar).

Making a warranty claim

Lodge all claims through Suncloud support — not directly with the manufacturer. Suncloud manages the claim end to end.

Have this ready:

  • Product model and serial number
  • Proof of purchase and installation date
  • Site address
  • A clear description of the fault, plus any fault / error code shown on the inverter or in DeyeCloud
  • Photos or a short video of the fault or display, if available

Reporting a fault: contact Suncloud as soon as you notice a fault — the manufacturer’s terms ask for claims to be lodged promptly (within one month of the fault occurring), and prompt reporting helps us resolve claims faster. This is a guideline for smooth handling only; it does not limit your rights under the Australian Consumer Law or the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act, under which you may be entitled to a remedy for a major failure regardless of any manufacturer reporting window.

This is a plain-English summary. The exact terms, exclusions, covered models and start date that apply to your unit are set out in the current Deye warranty certificate supplied with that specific product. Always check the certificate, and confirm anything unclear with Suncloud support.
