Warning battery
Battery won't charge or discharge
Symptom: Battery sits idle — not charging from solar or discharging to load — or shows offline / BMS fault (e.g. F58).
1. Communication & power
- Battery breaker closed and the module(s) powered up (LEDs on).
- Comms cable on the inverter’s BMS port (not the meter port), A/B correct. A BMS comms fault often shows as F58 — see the fault-code reference.
- For stacked batteries, confirm all modules report (PDU/cluster LEDs).
2. Settings
- Battery type set correctly (lithium / self-adaption to BMS).
- Charge/discharge current limits set to the battery’s rating and not zero — e.g. AI-W5.1-B is 100 A nominal; don’t exceed it.
- Working mode & time periods: in time-of-use mode the battery only charges/discharges inside the windows you set. An all-zero or mis-set schedule looks like “won’t charge”.
3. Protection states
- Very low SOC or low/high temperature can inhibit charge/discharge until the cells are back in range.
- Check for an active alarm on the battery itself, not just the inverter.
If comms are good, type/limits are right, and the schedule allows it but the battery still won’t move, capture the inverter + battery alarms and call Suncloud support.
